Updated: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is now fully integrated with AdSense and is ready to facilitate seamless ad revenue tracking.

In the weeks leading up to the sunset of Universal Analytics (UA) in July 2023, Google announced via its official channels the successful completion of their AdSense and GA4 integration project. You can find further details in the updated support link provided by Google:

Update: GA4 + Google Adsense integration is ready. See the connecting options in your Adsense account, nested under Account -> Access and authorization

What Does This Mean for AdSense Users?

With GA3 or UA, users had the ability to authorize data transfers between AdSense and Analytics. This feature allowed publishers to scrutinize their revenues by examining it in relation to Google Analytics dimensions such as page, content group, and others. The tracked metrics included:

  • Revenue
  • Revenue per 1000 sessions
  • Ads viewed per session
  • Adsense coverage
  • CTR
  • eCPM
  • Clicks and others

Many publishers have found the average revenue per 1000 sessions and the average revenue per 1000 users (ARPU) to be the most valuable metrics for yield management. However, it's worth noting that these metrics aren't automatically calculated in GA4.

GA4 Custom Metrics for Yield Management

To make the most out of your yield management with GA4, we recommend combining metrics of sessions and total revenue or users and total revenue. This can be done either by dividing these metrics or by creating a custom metric for this purpose.

Not an AdSense User? Ad Manager Integration Is Ready

For non-AdSense users, rest assured that Google Ad Manager (GAM) integration has been operational for quite some time. Linking GA4 and Ad Manager can be easily done within the GAM interface under the 'Linked Accounts' tab.
